Review: Twiss Sparkling Fruit Juice

Review: Twiss Sparkling Fruit Juice

I have always gone on about the beauty of fruits and I love drinking any concoctions with fruits in it as ingredients. Also as summer sets in nothing is better than a nice good fruit juice. The brand TWISS has launched it’s sparkling fruit juice in India now available in four variants – Apple with a twist of Black Currant; Mango with a twist of Lime; Lemon with a twist of Mint and Passion fruit with a twist of Orange. I was excited to see that the product is free of artificial colors and sweeteners even though I am not such a huge fan of aerated drinks. Packed in a colorful can, this is something you can definitely sip on to refresh yourself. The flavor combinations though are great with the apple with a blackcurrant twist being my favorite followed by Mango with a twist of lime. I like weird combinations because it automatically challenges my senses and how I would perceive it. The Lemon with a twist of mint reminds me completely of a mojito and I have loved that taste hugely for a long period of my life. Also I personally love passion fruit, I was more excited about tasting the passion fruit with a twist of orange drink but I can’t say it thrilled me as such. I am not sure about the packaging because the really colorful cans can be pretty jarring on the eyes but for kids & the younger generation bright colors always catch the eyes. Overall though with it’s good – tasting juices, I would probably happily gulp these juices whenever I see them around. Let us know if you have tried them as well! 🙂 Rating –...

The Cantonese Culinary at Sofitel BKC is an Absolute Delight

The Cantonese Culinary at Sofitel BKC is an Absolute Delight

Needless to say I love food and when Sofitel BCK invited me to taste the Cantonese food at the Pondichéry Café, I had to try it out. The option to choose from were a lot and coming all the way from Pullman Shanghai Skyway, Chef Allen Zhao has created a wonderful menu. There was a Vegetarian and a chicken soup to choose from and of course I went with the non veg option. Flavourful and amazing to taste, it really gave a kick to my taste buds which wanted more and more. Then came the salad. The options were a Sprout Salad and Chicken and Pok Choy Salad. I took my fill of both of them along with Chicken Dim sums. All of these tasted really well. The next course was a stir fry of your own choice. A lot of veggies like Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, beans, baby corn etc were laid out and one could choose from the selection which would be stir fried in their choice of sauce along with chicken. I opted for black bean sauce which was amazing. The end result made me want to go back for more. But I stopped my greedy self because there was so much more in the next course. The main course included options like Fried Cantonese Choy Sum, Kale with Garlic, Shrimps with Longjing Tea, Pan-Fried Codfish in Soya Sauce, Scalded Cantonese Water Spinach, Truffle Prawn, Stewed White Cabbage with Mushroom. I loved the taste of all of the dishes mentioned above. Even though I took really small portions of all of the dishes available, still I was thoroughly full and really had no space for amazing dessert of caramel custard. But I still indulged in it and it just melted in my mouth. Overall the entire menu was amazingly curated and tasted to perfection. The food was a little bland at times and people who love spicy food, they might not be able to enjoy it to the hilt. Otherwise I don’t think there was anything wrong with the entire festival. The festival ends soon, so head to the Sofitel BKC soon to enjoy some world class...

The Sizzle Festival at Hard Rock Café is a Must Visit for Every Foodie

The Sizzle Festival at Hard Rock Café is a Must Visit for Every Foodie

The Sizzle festival is back to Hard Rock Café for a third time and just like every time I headed to get a taste of the wonderful sizzlers that were on offer. Hard café needs no introduction. The music, the memorabilia, everything about the place is just wonderful for a music lover.  And me being a hard core music lover, headed expecting something perfect. The Sizzler menu to start with is a combination of sizzlers along with Long Island Iced Tea cocktails and shots. I decided to go with the iced tea and not the shots and they were really yum.  A little strong for me who has absolutely no threshold for alcohol, but yummy nonetheless. There were a lot of sizzlers to choose from. The menu had names like Hard Rock Cafe Thai Skillet, Italian Mafia Skillet, Mexican Chipotle Chicken and Prawn Skillet, Herb Crusted Chicken Skillet, Steak Satellite Skillet, Thai Style Grilled Cottage Cheese Skillet, Grilled Paneer Tikka Skillet. While every dish sounded yummy, we settled for Herb Crusted Chicken Skillet and Hard Rock Cafe Thai Skillet. The Herb Crusted Chicken Skillet was an absolute delight and the sauce that came with it added to the flavour. The rice was cooked to perfection. Even the Hard Rock Cafe Thai Skillet was very flavourful. I did find it a little dry for my tasted but overall it tasted fine. I would recommend you head for the sizzler festival as soon as possible to Hard Rock Cafe. It ends this month so...

Go Bengali at Soma in Grand Hyatt

Go Bengali at Soma in Grand Hyatt

Most of my childhood was spent in West Bengal, with Bengali food.  I remember sneaking out of the house during lunch or dinner time to the neighbors or friends’ house just to get my hands on the elusive poshto bhaja or even the beguni.  Old memories, sigh!  So when Soma at Grand Hyatt introduced a Bengali cuisine, I was very happy about it and couldn’t wait to try it out. On a weekday, after a hard day at work, Anwesha and I headed towards Kalina, Santa Cruz for a meal anticipating a lot. The evening started with really amazing Bellinis which really increased our expectations. The table was set with really yummy Bengali chutneys and even mustard paste ( kasundi) to add to any of the dishes one chose to eat which was a very nice touch I suppose. Now Anwesha is a Bengali and eats such yummy food daily at home but for me this seemed like a fun opportunity to relive childhood days. So I was excited to see what was in store. First came the vegetarian and non vegetarian appetizers. The Narkeler bora which was golden fried coconut patties were nice and sweet to taste. The other one Murgir pathisapta ( chicken mince wrap in rice crepe and pan- fried) served with tomato and mustard chutney was absolutely sublime. I kept on waiting for another helping. The main course started with some loochi which is deep fried flour bread which was served along with Ghee Bhat which is rice cooked in ghee and alu posto ( potato cooked with poppy seed gravy).  I devoured the loochi with the alu posto, which was so good and tasted like any Bengali house hold. The loochi was nice as well, but seemed a little different from the ones I used to eat at my Bengali neighbors’ house. In the dal section, there was some amazing Cholar dal (Bengal gram lentils cooked with coconut) which tasted well and the coconut really added to the flavour. Another thing I absolutely loved was the Chenar dalna (cottage cheese dumpling cooked in onion cashew nut gravy), it was a little sweet for my tastes but I guess people with a...
